I'm not sure who coined
the phrase "Rock 'n' roll ain't pretty", but since their
inception in 2002 the boys in Sum Thin Ugly have been
actively doing their part to add truth to the rumor.
With influences ranging
from
The Beatles,
Jimi Hendrix and
Alice Cooper to Stone Temple Pilots,
Guns
‘n’ Roses and
Alice In Chains
it is certainly evident that these boys know how to
rock. And rock they do.
Their
self titled debut showcases 12 in your face tracks that
show a musical diversity that is truly their own.
From the bluesy, hard rockin’ opening track “S.T.U.” to
the soulful closing ballad “Freedom”,
Sum Thin Ugly have definitely proven that they know how
to lay it down. Experience counts for allot in music and
these four long haired rockers from the "Town of Kings"
have proven time and time again that they know how to
play the game.
A string of successful live shows at such Kingston hot
spots as The Scherzo Pub, Stages Night Club, The Iron
Horse Saloon, Elixir, Cocamo, Brandee’s and The Merchant
McLiam have gained the band a loyal following in and
around their home town. They
have
been
fortunate enough to perform to enthusiastic Saturday
night crowds at the prestigious Horseshoe Tavern in
Toronto and Trudeau Park’s famous May 24 bash in Tweed.
SUM THIN UGLY have donated their services to charity
events “Jingle Bell Rock” for Pro Kids and “Kingston
United Music Festival” which raised over $5000.00 for
the United Way. They’re
consistently kick ass live performances,
professional work ethic and
attention to detail
have
gained them a solid
reputation for being a
serious
hard rock
contender.
